Children of Earth Day 4 - Here We Go Again Again

PART II: I Do My Best Thinking In The Shower

SHITBEARS!

OK, now that I've got that out of my system - some thoughts.

The 1918 Spanish Flu reference a) is very good (historical opportunism at its best!), b) gives us historical data with which to extrapolate. (Yes, I am a big geek. I did warn you.)

Yes, the virus or whatever is very potent in an enclosed space. It's probably not as totally lethal as that in the open air.

I suspect the aliens don't do well with adapting. It was really thrown when Jack changed the rules on it. "We're not doing it." "But you did last time." "Well we're not this time." "But you did last time." So, it's probably the same virus as 1918. After all, that worked a treat. Hit us with the virus, come back a while later with the same demands, possibly scaled down, and we'll do as told. They don't want us dead, they want us cowed. If they wipe out the entire race there'll be no more children at all, which sort of defeats the purpose.

In short, the threat of annihilation is being overplayed. The aliens have much better negotiating techniques than Green. So, resistance will get us fucked up but probably not extinct.

This also explains why the Cardiff Ghetto (to nab someone' phrase) was made of so much awesome. The writers really need us to care when the army show up all, "All your sprogs are belong to us."
