Ah Friday, how I long for the end of you

I keep starting to compose posts in my head, but somehow it never seems to get further than that.

The Huggy-Buggys came to visit. They were very tired after their hard-core tourism, with more yet to come, so we had a quiet domestic evening, and a wee wander around town in the morning. If they haven’t already said, ask them about their hire car. Try to work the word “bus” into the conversation. *Is so mean*

Weekends have been alternating between complete vegetation, and being very social. Movies have been seen and mostly enjoyed. Transformers was fantastic. Thank you Zephfi for convincing me to go! I saw Hot Fuzz the other weekend, as well. Did that have a NZ release? Well worth seeing if you haven’t already. Hilarity ensues, with much playing on the intrinsic homo-eroticism of buddy movies.

We finally got some decent weather last weekend, so I went with a couple of friends out to Rhossili Beach in south Wales. Ahh the beach. It had real sand and everything! I took pictures!

I have also been shopping. The key thing of note are the Shoes of Awesome. I think they will be really comfortable walking shoes for my holidays. They are immensely practical. And also unbelievably cute! They are white canvas with little cherries printed all over them. They are a little bit strappy, and have a liitle bit of heel on them, and I love them lots. *shoe bliss*

Heroes has finally made it to terrestrial. At last! We’re only up to episode 3, but I’m gripped. Can I just say that I hate the politician guy? Leaving aside his somewhat skewed priorities, he still really bugs me. I think it’s his voice. I don’t know, but I don’t like him.

Holiday plans are progressing apace. Which is really just as well, considering it’s about 2 weeks away! I have also added in a weekend in Paris the week after Turkey. I worked out the other day that I will spend 5 consecutive weekends out of the UK. I cannot believe how broke I am going to be, but it’ll be so very worth it. :o)

I get to spend the afternoon with the Divine TP tomorrow. I will probably tell you about it in another month. *sucks at this whole communicating thing*

Oh look. Now it’s lunch time. Super!

You know, you take a very nice picture. There're some gorgeous shots in your albums :-).

Hot Fuzz - yup! It came out here, um, earlier this year, I think. The creators were at the first screening at the Embassy, and I think we had to be in Christchurch and so couldn't even consider queuing up for that one. Saw it again a couple of weeks ago at a friend's house - awesome movie :-).

I like the politician guy! He's actually a complex enough character to be interesting, with all his different pressures and demands on his loyalties... Of course, I didn't really develop that view until a few episodes in, when I was tired of the simplicity of some of the characters. Still. Awesome show, loved it. Can't wait till more comes out!

Thank you. I invested in a shiny new digital camera this year, so I could play. I really should learn to use it properly. It does all sorts of tricky things, but I have no idea how. I should take the manual on holiday with me, and read it at airports.

Thus far, I am content with watching the connections, and how things tie in. The chick with the mirror double is nicely creepy, and with lots of back-story coming through. Does the mother-in-law know more than she's letting on? She had a very long shot of a smug look on her face after the blonde chick (Nicky?) left. I guess what I'm getting at is that so far the plot is sufficiently satisfying that I haven't noticed much lack in the characters. Except, seriously, does the cheerleader OWN any clothes that aren't her uniform?

Re: Photos

Ah, now I see what you meant. Yup, very nice -- but you should've called me!

Re: Heroes
Nathan is smarmy, but I can't help wanting to smack some sense into Peter...

I really shouldn't drink on an empty stomach.

I should have called you for why? Specifically?

Thank you for photo-praise. I likes it. :o)

Peter is whiny, and therefore a little annoying. You still don't get to turn an attempt at flight into a suicide attempt to make yourself look like the caring big brother. That was just gob-smackingly WRONG.

both the Petrelli brothers irritate me. Peter for his haircut alone! Nathan reminds me so much of the guy from Quantam Leap. Fav characters are Hiro and Ando tho - they rock!

We have Hot Fuzz on DVD, even. tis awesome. there are about 5 commentaries on the dvd.. we're one down, but fortunately it's hugely rewatchable. actually, one of the creators said he's not interested in making stuff that ISN'T rewatchable

Peter has Evil-Spidey hair! He must be bad! Hiro and Ando (cute play with the names - Hero and Plus 1) are so adorable. I'm really interested to see what's going on with Claire's dad. He appears to have seriously conflicted motivations. Those are always fun.

I gather the guys who did Hot Fuzz also had a TV series over here some time ago, called Spaced. I don't know if it ever made it to NZ. If it did I missed it, which seems a shame now.

yah, J is trying to locate Spaced as we speak. should be interesting.

Claire's dad is awesome. i also like his glasses. actually, Heroes is fun for me cos lots of the actors look like other actors, so it's some sort of spot-the-fake-cameo thing!

I like your photo of the flowers by the wall on the cliff. Oi fink 'tis beau-ti-ful:)

Cute shoes! Holiday in Turkey! Visits with itinerant wanderers! = envy:) Prob too late to say but give TP big hug from me pls:)

Oh and I forgot to say, Nathan has the most beautiful bovine eyes I've ever seen on a person (and such long eyelashes). Character is fairly annoying tho.

*shares Zephfi's Hiro/Ando love*

Thank you, I quite like the dandelions. It's a bit chocolate box-ey, but still a nice shot. Comment me on Flick! I like getting comments. :o) It's actually really interesting seeing which pictures get looked at the most. They aren't always the ones I'd pick.

Am seeing TP in a couple of hours, so will dispense extra hugs on your behalf.
