Hmmmm. My Canada shots are not hugely popular, it seems. Which is a shame, because some of them are quite neat. So, here are the 5 most viewed Canada shots. I really must get around to putting my Pic a Day shots up. *adds to To Do List* Sigh.

Davie Street - One of the main roads in the Downtown area.

From the Gondola - We went up Grouse Mountain on the gondola, but the windows were both dirty and steamy.

Poison - From my visit to the fabulous Vancouver Aquarium, where they have an excellent Amazon display.

That ibis is crazy! If by crazy, I mean an interesting colour:)

Random factoid! It is red because it eats lots of shrimp. Same with flamingoes. If they ate something else they would be brown.

Trufax!

I did know about the flamingoes but not about the ibis - why does one go pink and one orange? Are their shrimp different colours?

Hmmmm, an excellent question. My best guess would be that the ibis is much smaller than the flamingo, so the same amount of colourant (What does make shrimp orange? I'm sure it's not carotene.) is more concentrated.

Wiki say that carotene it is!

"Young flamingos hatch with grey plumage, but adults range from light pink to bright red due to aqueous bacteria and beta carotene obtained from their food supply."

Hi Debitha
Thank you very much for sending Nameless which has arrived here today. Hope you have spent the handling fee wisely!
(I realise this is totally unrelated to your post above but just thought I'd pop a comment on your page to say thanks.)
Cheers
Margot

Oh good! I have several confirmed safe arrivals, which is always reassuring!

Random commentage FTW!
