I Fucking Love the British

There is a long standing British tradition of the UK Christmas Number One. It is A Big Deal.

For the last four years running, it has been won by the winner of that year's X-Factor. This year someone decided they had had enough, and a grass-roots, no-budget campaign was launched to beat out this year's X-Factor winner with Rage Against the Machine's 'Killing In The Name'.

You know, this one:

It has just been announced that they have, in actual fact, won.

I am MADE OF GLEE!

OMG

That is beyond awesome!!

Shows that you don't always need money to make things happen. The person who started that campaign must be jumping up and down right now:D

BTW? Your icon? You win an internets cake!

SO FUNNY!

I feel kind of bad because I nicked it in my early days on LJ, before I knew about creditting, and now I have no idea who made it. But they are awesome, because sometimes a situation just calls for Vyvyan.

VERY MUCH SO.

*goes to google Vywyan* I have no idea who he is, but the haircut is amusing :) Icon itself is awesome and oh so appropriate :)

He's from an 80s comedy show called The Young Ones. He was the punk boy. Played by Ade Edmonson, if that helps.

Most definitely. *adds youtube to the list* I'll look at it when I have time.

Thought it might have been 80s look. The haircut and clothes said it all :D

ME TOO!

FUCK YOU I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME MERRY CHRISTMAS.

*giggles* Why do I hear that said in a Kiwi "sweet as" accent, a Kiwi accent (South Island probably, if there is a difference in regional dialect between SI and NI) and then in an English accent?

All three are most amusing.

I sort of want them to change the lyrics to this for the concert :D
