It has occurred to me that the 456 need the children for something. So, they're using them to produce a 'vaccine' against influenza for humans? Oh, sure, very altruistic.... I don't think. NOT how they're being presented.
I think the aliens are getting sick and they've discovered that *something* from humans can help. Only they ran out after using up the first 12 (because they only got 11, because Clem escaped?), so now they need more. Only they can't say that, because it would make them look weak...
