This is really just a reminder for me. I have about three different To Do lists, so I thought I'd conglomerate.

Stuff wot needs doing )

Although now that I have, I'm beginning to regret it. Man that's a depressingly long list.

There is finally a decent sushi restaurant in Bath. I have been twice in 2 weeks. I have never had salmon so tender and delicious. Om nom nom nom.

My new boss started this week, so the new job is really kicking off. It has been kind of crazy this week with wall to wall meetings, (some at the office, one in Dartford and one in Bedford) but things are looking really interesting. Particularly as the client looks like they will be giving us a fairly free rein. We pretty much plan to run with it.

I am off to Egypt with the lovely TP next weekend. She would probably really appreciate it if I got my shit together and sorted out some transport and accommodation issues... (I'm on it, I promise!)

I am a few weeks into my Iron Age archeology course, which is really interesting. Although the lecturer keeps trying to talk us out of preconceptions which I don't have, so that gets a little weird sometimes. Not savages constantly at war, complex trade and social set-up, I get it. Move on. Hillforts (frequently not on hills, and often not actually forts!) are particularly interesting. It's quite hard sometimes trying to pull it all together. Halfway through a discussion about single bank and ditch enclosures on a flat area with evidence of maybe one or two structures inside it I suddenly thought (and therefore said), "Hang on, weren't there wolves and bears around at this point? Mightn't it be to keep the wildlife off your livestock?" Apparently this was a brain wave. Go me.

Anyway, I should go answer some emails. Ciao, beautiful people!

New Years Resolutions. I don't really do them. Because even if I bother to MAKE them, I don't actually DO them. However, about a year ago (actually, I just checked and it was EXACTLY a year ago, go me!) I wrote down some things I was planning to do last year. So now I'm 'fessing up.

What I said: )

Let's talk about this year. )

How about you? What are your plans for the year?

I haven't done a proper post in so long, I think I've forgotten how! Where to start?

I have been climbing a couple of times this year, but not as often as I'd like. I signed up for the Neolithhic Britain course, which is really interesting - looking at, amongst other things, the transition from hunter/gatherer lifestyle to settlements and domestication. I am part-way through stress-management coaching, which is also very interesting - thinking about how you respond to things and why, and how to change it. Hopefully that will help a lot when things pick up at work again. (Work has actually been pretty quiet lately, realtively speaking.)

Last night Flatmate and I threw a party, basically because it has been grey and manky for ages, and I figured everyone needed an excuse to throw on their glad-rags and get pissed. It seems I was correct. :o) Formal dress is always fun. Especially when the guys get out the dinner jackets. Class. I busted out my dress from Miss Scarlet's wedding. Which I am proud to say still fits! It's a little tighter than it used to be, but apparently that doesn't detract. :oD Although I think what impressed people most was the lunar eclipse I laid on. Can I throw a party, or what? The last folk left about 4.30. I have not been up that late in a very very very long time. Then I got up at 8.30 to feed and water a couple of friends who had stayed over, but had an early start. This afternoon is not going to be pretty. I am going to go have my breakfast/brunch/lunch/whatever. Mmmm, fried everything.

Imogen Heap is excellent morning-after-the-party music.

Hello my lovelies.

Fortunately I didn't get that confused at San Francisco Airport, so I made it back home OK.

If you have to have a short atop in the US, I would highly recommend trying to go through San Fran if you can manage it. Having been through LA and Houston, my expectations of my four hour stop were not high. But... they were... nice. Multiple staff members including the immigration guy, and the guy at the bag check were... nice. Pleasant. I was really quite taken aback.

I have been inspired by the lovely Sassafrassle. I am posting some ideas of things I intend to try to do this year in an effort to better myself. Hopefully posting it here will provide me some motivation to do more than talk about it. So:

- The University has a part time course on Neolithic Archeology (Yes, I'm a big geek. Don't act surprised.) which is about long barrows and such-like things and will include a field trip out to Avebury.

- Work wants to help me with stess management and time management. I will let them help me.

- The college has an Italian course in September. I want to be able to understand people when I go back to Italy. I can pretty much make myself understood, but it's awkward when you can't really tell what they're saying back.

- I will do more climbing this year. I'm not sure I managed any last year, apart from a wee scramble on a rockface at a beach in Coromandel. I am going out to Gloucester this weekend to climb with some friends, so that's a start on that one.

So, that's the plan. Keep an eye out here to read more about the giddy whirlwind of my life. :o)
