They sure do. I don't imagine they waste their resources doing this for the lulz. ;o)
I wonder if they are made, rather than bred? They are incorporating the children into their physical bodies. Either that or, as you say, they are sick and need something from us. I think it's more likely that they have been experimenting, found something that works and are now looking to roll it out on a large scale. I would be interested to know what terms they were demanding in 1918.
