It's been a funny old week

We've got a big project on at work (hence all the spreadsheets) which will culminate in two weeks of an event running at the beginning of July, so the pressure is on at work, especially as the company we are working with on it have apparently already spent the entire budget. Awkward when I'm still booking flights and hotels for people and there are various sundries to be acquired. Plus there are some other things I need to manage at the same time, but have never really had a chance to get my head around. This is turning me into somewhat of a stress puppy.
Last weekend I went to a friend's bbq, which was a really nice evening, but getting out there turned out to be a major mission. I was getting a ride with Flatmate V and her boyfriend who was bringing his new car back that day. I was in town and nearly caught the bus, but held out. So by the time he had been caught in traffic and been on a petrol mission, which was more of an issue than you might think plus various inherent VandJ faffing about, I was seriously regretting not bussing it. But then there was copious booze, food, giant jenga and good company, so it was all right in the end.
And then the neighbours decided that the weekend was for sleep and the week for parties. I woke up at 1.30 on Tuesday morning to the sound of what were apparently hilarious drunken stories - it's hard to tell when they're in Polish - as the neighbours have a deck off the back of their house, about 2m from my bedroom window. I managed to get back to sleep after they went to bed at 2.30. Oh neighbours, how close you came to death that night.
By Thursday I was definitely approaching the end of my tether. (Those of you who have lived with me may remember how I get on insufficient sleep.) So I may have over-reacted when I got home to find that V had helpfully re-pruned the forsythia out the front. It having already put out its leaves for the summer, it is decidedly stick-like now. Also, because we live on a slope and V is not very tall the top has been cut on a slant.

I now find my wonky stick-plant amusing, but at the time? Not so much. Clearly I needed more sleep, so I went to bed early. (Around 9.30) Which would have been fine had not the neighbours decided that that was the perfect time to have dinner and a few drinks. Out on the deck. *twitch* Another night of not-enough-sleep led to a meltdown at work the next day over the wrong envelopes. But let's not get into that.
Fortunately for all concerned nothing can keep me awake after lots of wine and a divine steak and a pleasant dinner out.
Last night we went to see Crowded House at Westonbirt Arboretum, which was fantastic. The weather was a bit dire, but that was not unexpected so we were prepared. We were expecting Crowded House and their support act, The Delays. We were not expecting Random Don McGlashan so I was really excited when he came on. Everyone else but V went, "Who?" and looked at me strangely. Heathens. The Delays were really enjoyable. You should go check them out. I will be buying the album. Crowded House were great. I tried to put pics on Facebook, but Facebook fails, so I am going to go put them on Flickr now.
Am now feeling good and mellow. Fingers crossed for that lasting the week.
