I am back! At last. Weather and air travel do not mix.

Vancouver had about 15 inches of snow around the time I was there, which is not a thing to which they are accustomed! There is apparently one plane which does the London-Vancouver run back and forth. Unfortunately it got stuck somewhere along the line, so was cancelled entirely on Sunday, and postponed from Monday evening (when I was booked on it) to Tuesday lunchtime. There were then 1300 people trying to get on to the flight. The check-in queue went half the length of the concourse. *sigh*

However, my internal flights were not affected too badly so the trip to Winterpeg Winnipeg was made. It actually barely snowed there when we were there. The weather was clear and sunny and relatively mild until the North Wind swung by and dropped the temperature to -35 degrees. I'll tell you, cold like that stings. It feels like sharp objects, which is a very peculiar sensation.

We did much catching up with family. I will do a separate post later with what I consider to be the best family portrait EVAR. We also did a little sight-seeing around Vancouver, including a lovely lunch up Grouse Mountain (just north of the city). My brother shouted us lunch at The Observatory for Christmas. The food was excellent, and the views were spectacular. We also headed out from Winnipeg to Kenora, where another of my cousins lives, which is very beautiful. A lovely time was had by all.

Now I am trying to get back into the swing of things at work which is a little difficult, particularly as a week after getting back I am only just starting to sleep normally. Someone has had the temerity to suggest that this is because I am getting older, but I blame Vancouver's jetlag properties, which are clearly mighty.

Yay for making it back safe! Well, making it back at all;p And I'm glad you shares the pretty snow pics so I don't ever have to experience -35 degrees to see such things:)

"Well, making it back at all" It was beginning to feel that way. Not that I was desperate to get back to the office, but once you're all packed up and ready to go it's a bit of a drag to turn around and come back.

Oh, there are lots of pretty snow pics. I will start putting them up on Flickr shortly. Van Dusen Gardens had big light show, with half the place lit up with Christmas lights. Those are really neat.

In fairness, the top one was in Vancouver, and it was only about -5... :o) Yeah, you don't want it.
