An exercise in positivity

Don't laugh. It's not something I'm good at. So I'm trying to find things about which to be cheery.
I will start with yesterday, because you can't tell about a day until the end of it.
One of the women at work is looking after me. After I was pretty wobbly the other week, she has been looking out for me, and when management were dicks about something she was furious. People have been sympathetic, but there's something really... something about having someone be really angry on your behalf.
Yesterday I went swimming for the first time in ages. The University pool is SO MUCH nicer than the one in town. No excessive reek of ammonia, no little old ladies puttering up and down the lanes, no small children getting in the way. I only managed 10 laps of the 50m pool, but considering how unfit I am at the moment that's not bad going. (Although I am feeling my biceps and triceps today. Hoo boy!) Also, when I took a wee break part way through, the nice young uni student lifeguard was flirting with me before I even sat down. That'll really brighten a girl's day.
Also, Spider is a free arachnid! That won't mean anything to most of you, but being happy for someone else totally counts.

Date: 2009-08-05 05:40 pm (UTC)Something else to be happy about - you guys over at T5 have been so welcoming. This is my first genuine Involved In Fandom thing I've done in TW apart from the small handful of fics I've written, and so far, it's been a fantastic experience. I can't remember the last time I had this much fun. None of you guys knew me, and I just turned up and started playing in your sandpit. You've been awesome, and I really appreciate it.

Date: 2009-08-05 07:39 pm (UTC)I will be happy about that too, then. :o)
One of the things about the AskVerse was that they really wanted other people to play too, and they really encouraged it. I was hoping to keep that up with T5, so I'm really happy you feel that way!

Date: 2009-08-05 06:08 pm (UTC)Having someone being angry on your behalf is good- for me, it make me realise that what is going on, is actually significant and not me over-reacting. Having your intuitin and emotions confirmed as effectively right in that case is good in self-affirming and for your self-confidence.
Yay for swimming! I miss it but everytime I go? I get a ear infection due to the chlorine. I've learnt not to question it, but anyways congrats on you doing 10 laps on first go! And flirting is always a boost to a girl's self confidence :D
I know- I don't know Spider too well, mainly know her around fandom and read her recs, but I'm happy she is free as well. I didn't know about the meme- but that is one thing that made me happy yesterday; to see the warmth and compassion fandom has for people.

Date: 2009-08-05 07:47 pm (UTC)I don't really know Spider well, either. Mostly from AskVerse, so I'm glad I still have the chance to get to know her. Fandom can be weird, but when it gets behind something it can make all sorts of stuff happen.
